Spring is here!

The weather is getting warmer, the sun is out and we are spending more time outdoors.  Have you picked up your new shades for the Spring/Summer season?  Don’t forget sunglasses for the children too.  82% of parents encourage children to wear sunscreen, but only 32% do the same for sunglasses.  According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, until they’re about 10 years old children are at an increased risk for permanent retinal damage from sunlight. Exposure to UVA and UVB rays can lead to eye disease like cataracts and macular degeneration.  It’s time to take seriously the health risk sunlight poses to our kids’ eyes.  A good pair of sunglasses should be your eyes best friend.  Take care of your eyes today to prevent damages affecting you in the future.

Community News

This year Dr. Li has decided to support a local school, Ecole Publique John Fisher Public School, in their annual auction.  This donation will help support the quality of public education for the children in our neighbourhood.  Last year additional music and literacy programs, computer upgrades and resources were devoted to green space improvements in the school.  We know the importance of having healthy eyes and good vision when learning, once that is taken care of, let’s ensure our children also have the resources to excel.  Wishing John Fisher Public School much success in this event!
